"WEAPON"

#1 Post by Hunter87 »

I am sick of hearing shooters in the UK calling firearms weapons a firearm is not a weapon unless you choose to use it as one! And it's called a sound moderator not a bloody suppressor we are not yanks. wallhead

lol

It does boil my wee-wee too but i try to let it wash over me. If people are serving or ex-forces i understand why they would call them weapons as they do use weapons and i'm sure the terminology gets drummed in, but when i hear civvie shooters call their guns weapons it makes me cringe

It is the Firearms licensing departments use of the word that bothers me and I had long and futile discussions with them over its use implying that I was a danger to the public.

As civilian shooters using a firearm to harm another individual is something we would not do so terming it as a weapon implies that we would and are consequently law breakers. The FAC system checks that we are not therefore the FAC system should recognise that and stop insulting us by saying we are weapon users.

Suppressor or Moderator doesn't fuss me.
Only when people call them silencers I get antsy... You can't silence a firearm. you can suppress it or moderate it though.

I totally agree that when talking to police or members of the public they are firearms.

However, when we are on an MoD range shooting at Fig 11s we use weapon in our range commands. Don't ask me why, but it seems appropriate to the situation.

Stick an empty pop (soda) bottle over the end of it, and see if you can have one of those... :D

The terms "Moderator" OR "Suppressor" are interchangeable, I would say you'd be better getting annoyed at those who call the same devices a "Silencer".

As for a "Bloody Suppressor" - I've never come across one of those. kukkuk

I use the term suppressor, I had not realised in was an Americanism.
