Yes it would be good to have a really good modem range where you can shoot at any range any rifle and have somewhere for national and international competitions.
When you look at what some of the other nations have we are looking a bit sad.
We need a good range in the center of the UK to many clubs down south or up in Scotland
The centre being very close to Hexham I believe, a short ride from me, I wholeheartedly concur
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.

Hi just had this e-mail below form another shooting forum
Andy

There is a project to build a new range in the Nottingham area but it is still at an early stage. it is not "going to challenge Bisley for shooting in the UK" but may provide a venue suitable for top level ISSF competition.

Hubby says that it is all in the very early planning stages, architects, planning depts & fundraising stage. He was up there for a meeting about it in March & is keeping an eye on proceedings.

Hi i have had this reply from one of the members from another web site

I represent a minor "partner" that is supporting the project. What I can tell you about it is that it is ambitious and if it comes to fruition it will fill a gap in this countries shooting facilities. Whilst it only exists on paper it has advanced well beyond the "idea" stage and substantive discussions have taken place with local sports partnerships, NSRA, NRA, Sport England and potential partners who may have an interest in having such a facility on a site they already own. There is a very long way to go and much could change before any conclusion is reached so I would rather not go into much detail. What is envisaged is a facility that could accommodate international ISSF events and provide training facilities useable at all levels.

I have read your reply above and really really hope this come off as we really do need a more central range. As a local rifle club committee member i would fully support it and if you need any support from our members in the future please let us know

Regards
Andy

I have two sisters in law, the first it turns out has bought a holiday cottage next to a place called Diggle in Yorkshire, the second lives in Nottinghamshire not far from this place.

It will make visiting the in laws a lot more pleasant for all parties concerned,

It is all coming together nicely,

Discounts at Diggle for FBUK members. Wow, you are soooooo lucky!
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Hi
Just had this update from my mate about the range at near Rat cliff on Trent

It's going to be called East Midlands Regional Shooting Centre. It will be No.1 range in Europe. Maybe No.1 in the world. So far they have got the fund of 3 Million, needs of 7 Million more. It will be established somewhere near Rat cliff on Trent

The best thing for me to do is, the guy who is working hard with that project is Andrew Cooney. When we do the Open Day at Reepham, I can bring him with me to the club. So, it will give you a good opportunity to discuss with him. I will ask him to bring that Planning too.
