Swiss Reload RS50 experiences with .308 loads

#1 Post by DutchTRG22 »

Swiss Reload is an upcomming powder at the Dutch market. I read on this forum that it is available on the UK market for a longer time.
Those days I use vithavuori N140 and N150 for my loads.
155 gn Lapua Scenar, CCI BR primer, Lapua brass
What is the experience from UK reloaders with RS50 in .308 loads?

Very good experiences, it went under the name TR140 here before rebranding. Do a site search for TR140 to get numerous opinions and load data.

I Searched the forum TR 140 related but what interests me is what RS50 does in a Sako TRG 22 .308
I couldn't find much info related to that. Are there any Sako shooters who tested loads with 155 gn Lapua Scenars, Lapua Brass and CCI BR primers.

Every rifle will be different. Just coz one trg likes tr140/rs50 doesn't mean you're will. However it's an excellent powder!!

TR 140 was far better. Then it became RS and jumped in price!

I'm yet to find a rifle that has said to me 'I don’t like RS50'. Or to experience a good RS 50 load shot by a good shooter in a good rifle that didn’t do what was expected. But apparently some rifles may still 'dislike' it.

I'm curious if it comes near the results of my current load with 40gn N140.
And is the consistancy of quality of the RS50 constant?
The group below is a 5 shot group at 100 meters with my TRG 22. One triggerpull failure of myself, shame for that. :o
This group is at 100 meters. 155 gn lapua Scenar, 40 gn N140.

Generally in my experience TR140/RS50 gives lover pressure and slightly higher MV than Vihtavuori N140 for a given load.

My son and I have so far used TR140/RS50 in .223 Rem; .243 Win; .308 Win and 7.5x55mm with excellent results. We also use RS62 with excellent results in .300 WSM.

TR140/RS50 is widely used among fellow club members, mostly in .308 Win/7.62x51mm and thanks to bulk buying is a very economical powder for general use.

My friend uses TR140 but has now switched to RS52, not the same but he thinks it better.

I was told that RS50 produces higher speeds at lower pressure and temprature than VV N140, what the difference with RS52 that's a double base powder I was told. Does RS52 in temperature end near VV N140?
