So rumors don't fester, it's probably appropriate if I say something about C&G as I have some history with them. IMO Chris is an enthusiast and a top bloke, who I've bought 2 firearms from and he gave me "lots" of (free) help with a third.

The only rumor I've heard that I think is plausible, is a K98 was a "made up sniper" with period scope and rings. Whilst I can't vouch for that particular rifle, I can tell you about a No4T I almost bought from him. I researched the No4T as much as I could and with advice from members here, I bought a few books and it looked good to me. When I posted lots of pics here, Rearlugs gave me a critique that I didn't think was possible. I know I wasn't the only one who was impressed... I know Chris didn't have this deep knowledge, but he did call on Colin at Fultons and another No4T expert, to give it the once over for me. He went out of his way to help prove it's provenance, but even after 3 experienced people looked at it, they didn't come up with anywhere near the amount of info Rearlugs did. I guess you'll always find someone who knows more than you when it comes to firearms history and even then, not everyone agrees.

Just thought it was only fair to air the issue and put some perspective on it. If this post is inappropriate, feel free to delete it.

My No4T thread is here if you're interested:

My M39 came from Germany, only place I have seen them at affordable & reasonable price.

I guess Swords & Muskets is probably ok for a run of the mill K31 which is ten a penny in Switzerland but I'd be very very careful buying a nice K98 based on the info given by the seller.

Given the absurd prices of K98 in the UK, it would make economical sense to get your M39, Mauser & K31 in Germany and try to group the 3 rifles in one postage.

Posts removed, twice, this is not the for sale section.

Abide by the rules, nearly everyone else manages it most of the time.

Posts breaking forum rules will always be removed and you as a serial offender should know that by now.

If you don't like the rules here or the way the forum is run then there are plenty of other forums for you to frequent, you don't have to come here you know.
