Mind you the thought of having to go to B&Q alone, never mind the faff on making the damn thing makes the thirty quid I paid for an MTM one seem great value for money.

To be honest it wasn't much faff really & I enjoyed the fact I made it rather than buying one off the shelf. Think it was the whole process that appealed rather than the end product alone if that makes sense? I could knock out several in a day now though so even less faff I suppose.
I've made quite a few bits like a multi fuel cook stove for when rough camping & roll mat straps out of paracord to keep a shooting mat rolled up etc. I could buy these but that's not fun ;-)

I told the wife very early on that I sit in an office, I wear a suit, I drink coffe, my hands are soft, I do not break sweat. If she had wanted DIY then she should have taken up with a bulder.

You have actually got to the stage where you decide A) If you want to make some for sale and B) How you cost them, at £10 per hour, what is your cost and you begin to see Dromias point re the prototype. I see your point on the 'Satisfaction' element and as you say you now have the jigs so go for it and make 3 or 4 for sale at say £30 each.

Haha I was that man once... My wife wouldn't let me carry on though! I now beat to her drum it feels.

Yeh it started out being a case of just making one for the sheer fun of it but now I've got templates & jigs I'm tempted to do a few & see if anyone at my gun club is interested in one & £30 was the figure I had in my head too. I'm in no rush so I'll think about it some more, but at least I know the options there. Cheers, Steve

I was contemplating making one on the laser cutter but it can't really cut thick enough. Your work is great!

Only built this last week & ive just used it for the first time to clean my CZ & it works like a charm. My worry was the adjustable end would wobble too much but the weight of the rifle butt makes it solid which was great. By pure fluke I've got all the dimensions spot on for me, & all my cleaning kit fits nicely on the base under the rifle.
