they can't alter renewal dates on an fac, which is why they shorten the time left on the newly issued sgc to match the renewal date on the fac.

Hampshire told me the same thing - I wanted to go co-term a couple of years ago when my SGC came up for renewal. I wasn't allowed to do that and so I've had to wait until *this* year to go co-term, when my FAC expires. I'm in the middle of the process, right now. :)

Yep, this was the case in Gloucestershire too.
