I am quite certain that these folks have nothing to do with LE or the Service. Certain. I shoot with a number of ex-Service folk (like myself as well, for that matter) and LEO's and we all shoot in ordinary civvy clothes. Camo for the bush, certainly (Realtree, not this pixelated stuff...) but it would get some fairly odd reactions at the Club. Ignorance is another topic entirely. Perhaps we could discuss it on some other Thread, at some other time. For the moment, allow me simply to object to your characterisation.BamBam wrote:So what? I go there because it's the only place I can shoot longer ranges (out to 200 meters) than at my smallbore Club. They have "Action Ranges" for 3-gun, Cowboy Action, stuff like that & you would not believe the get-ups some of these guys arrive in. The only thing missing is a helmet (and I'm sure I'll see that one day...) - full camo, boots, chest-rig, ammo pouches, knife, body armor, weird fingerless gloves (even when it's 30'C. ). Total feckin' wannabe's - if you want to run around in all that gear, join up - they'll give you all that sh!t for free and pay you too (well, not that much, but still...). I dunno, I burned my BDU's as soon as I got home after my hitch.
I stay as far away from these idiots as possible......
Quite often people here will wear full camo waterproofs, chest rigs for rapid shotgun loading in pairs, mag pouches for CSR and gloves too if it's cold. For all you know they're law enforcement, military or competitive shooters, don't be so ignorant.

The chest rigs can be useful depending on what you do Browning girl, see nubs the no handed shooter. He's better than some people with both arms and adds to the age old conundrum of whether a man with no arms but a gun is still armed.

One of the reasons I will have nothing whatsoever to do with UKPSA. A very pedantic divisive organisation.ordnance wrote:So what? People can wear whatever they want, within reason, your little rant there is pretty much what Mike Yardley says, maybe go join him.

There is more to what Mike Yardley said the clothing they were wearing. He is not on his own regarding clothing.
CODE OF DRESS UKPSA/IPSC PRACTICAL SHOTGUN COMPETITIONS
INTERNATIONAL PRACTICAL SHOOTING CONFEDERATIO.
With the exception of serving military or police personnel who may wear their normal service clothing, any clothing, or combination of clothing, which has a paramilitary style is considered inappropriate at UKPSA competitions. Camouflage clothing of any irregular pattern is specifically banned.
I will say again -
If its perception we are worried about : ie wearing camo makes us wannabes then really we should not be shooting straightpull clones of military rifles.
Any "anti" who objects to military attire will still object when a shooter uses a military rifle even if he is wearing a tutu !!!

I would think most sporting organisations / clubs have dress codes for competitors. One of the reasons I will have nothing whatsoever to do with UKPSA. A very pedantic divisive organisation.

It wasn't your post I was referring to, I suspect that after Father Jack Hackett the word you chose to use now has some drawing room acceptability.Browning_grrl wrote:dromia wrote:Second time in this thread I have had to address the language issue.
This is not GoM and is open for all to see, we get more guests visiting here than members so the rule of thumb is don't put up anything you wouldn't want your wife and/or children to see/hear.
There is a foul language filter on the forum, why circumvent it?
Apologies.
