Then you're probably not one. Which is a good thing. ;)

I googled it too. It must be a kid's term. i've never claimed to be an expert nor a martial arts expert as explained by wiki. however, you're claims are simply opinions just as mine. also, the M97 of which i refer is the same as the Model 1897, which you refer. The gun has changed over the years with pistol grips and longer barrels. Mine was manufactured in 1934 give or take obviously prior to WWI, so it wouldn't be a trench gun with its longer barrel. Model 1897s nor Model 1892s are not hard to find in the South as well as in good condition. 80%+.

tatooed gun: It might have been a Sig 516 which looks like an AR with the forward assist etc. The 556 has none of that.

Definitely looked more like the 516 from my addled memory.

I had just got off 2 long haul flights and was having my luggage inspected at customs at the time... I had lots of questions, I just didn't want to look like a nut... (Even if I am one). :p

yeah wasn't really trying to set off a debate of police carry in an airport. it was a long flight that started about 18:00 in the US and arrived somewhere around 08:00 in UK. the first thing I did was go to Victoria station where I grabbed a bite to eat and noticed no trash cans. I asked a cop and he said it was because of explosives. that never occured to me and would not believe it if it didn't happen. however, I adjusted after some sleep and thoroughly enjoyed the UK. well I stayed in and around London so that's about all i saw but the people were very friendly. I hope that those from the UK have the same experience as I did when visiting. one thing I would encourage is to visit NC especially if you are thinking about hunting. we have about every species here except those in Africa and some larger animals such as elk and moose. pretty soon alligator will be a possibility. also, we have the best surf fishing in the world on the Outer Banks. Anyway, back to the point. I think almost anything resembling an AR would have looked similar to one that morning. another rifle that is gaining in popularity in the states is the Savage brand. Is anyone over there familiar with the product? Also, what are your barrel lengths on rifles. We have to go through hell and high water to get a rifle under 16" barrels. Its an extremely accurate gun and many people are buying them simply because they are economical. Any specific calibers have special laws? Again, just curious. Thanks for your time

London, hate the place, got the city out of my system long ago. Did you actually come across any English people, I always find it hard to spot any whenever I'm up there?

Actually yes, we stayed a few nights with by friend's aunt who lived, I believe in Putney? So we did actually meet a few people that were from there althgough it was a very diverse place. And like I said most people we met were really nice and welcoming.
Another thing I've been wondering about is how do you acquire firearms over there? Private sales, gun shops? Anyone of you every use guntraderUK? i'm thinking about listing a gun on there.
How about auctions? Do you folks have estate auctions where you can purchase guns? That is where I find most of my deals on ammo and even some guns.

All of the above. However, as every firearms we own is recorded and listed on a Licence (Firearms Certificate) you A) have an empty 'slot' on that certificate for the caliber of firearm and B) it can only be a firearm that conforms to that which we are allowed to own by our 'Governments' firearms laws.
