Pistols or Hunting ?

I wonder what would prove more voters friendly / less damaging :

Overturn of the pistol ban providing the pistols are locked secure at the clubs
or
Overturn of the hunting with dogs ban as proposed

I can not help thinking Cameron will face some backlash for his decision to amend the Hunting bill, re-enforce the "nasty party" + "all for the toffs" image for actually very limited gains.
Allowing pistol shooting on the other end, nicely wrapped-up to create a generation of future Gold medals winners at Olympic & Commonwealth might have actually be not as bad & acceptable to the public ?

Unfortunately repealing the hunting ban is as much a political class issue for tw@t cameroon as instigating the ban was a political class issue for labour.

It is just another postmodern political football that is just about votes and/or vested interest rather than a rational view on the subject and doing the right thing for the country and its populace, such is how we are governed.

We already allow Pistols to be possessed provided they are kept at designated Heritage sites, but there appears to be problems with this, a recent Police raid resulted in - THIS... Believe he was the Secretary of the Heritage site in Manchester.

I doubt having to keep pistols at your Club would not be popular, not to mention most Clubs could not afford the security.

A change of legislation to allow 22 Pistols would be ideal.

BTW I see the Scottish Nazi Party are going to vote against relaxing the hunting laws purely on spite, not like them...

I really don't know what the Tories are thinking with the hunting ban repeal, its literally like handing all of their political enemies magazines upon magazines of ammo to blast them with I can only presume some other even less palatable topic is being kept in the shade by this, but then my tinfoil hat is a bit tight this morning

That was a bit my thought as well ...
I only followed a hunt couple of times when I first moved to the UK so I really don't know that "scene", hence my post. I can not see a strong popular support across the country to repeal the ban & fail to see the pragmatic benefits from an electoral point of view ?

I don't think that Cameron ever thought he'd have to deliver on a vote by gaining a majority in Parliament.
The Bill doesn't stand a chance with the "new" Tories in parliament, who are mostly closet social democrats.

The one spin-off that Cameron may use to his advantage, will be that it is the first instance of the SNP voting on an English Law.

That's the problem with us shooters. We feel so privileged to be allowed what we have we're terrified to ask for more, and if we do it's with caveats abound to appease the powers that be and the media. Why should they be stored at clubs? That's accepting the argument that guns are dangerous and shooters are nutters.
If that's acceptable, why not all guns stored at clubs, why does ammo need to be kept at home, why do we need guns at all? (liberal logic)

Not necessarily . Again I see where you are coming from & agree with you . It is just that I am not 100% convinced the public is ready yet to support a change to go back to the "good old days" & facing two evils I go for the lesser.

but we can already shoot pistols, as long as they are left at a club, thats sec 7.

the whole point is to allow a .22 pistol, or 9mm 45 etc ideally, to be viewed the same as a rifle, which it should be. and let us continue to work safely, going from home to club with our guns, using them in persuit of our legal pasttime.
