Or simply do something... get off your fat arses, write to your MP in the strongest possible terms that NPCC/ACPO are a bunch of c**ts and demand a response. It's their job to represent and listen to their constituents and he/she needs to understand that.

Our shooting sports should not be dictated by the desires and whims of unaccountable w***ers.
What should I or someone who wants to write say then? I can't think of what to say and I need something to prove why they're wrong. I can understand trying to be proactive. There is no immediate impending doom but tis better to be on our feet and not let ourselves get screwed over.

In theory Continuity ACPO and FELWG fall under either the Home Office or the policing minister. The latter is Mike Penning, an ex-Guardsman. The former is Theresa "internet villain 2015" May, who won't be any friend of ours in my humble opinion.

So what is the course of action then? Hope May keeps not being even more non-friends with the con ACPO or write to the Home Office anyone to point out what they're doing (unless they were already smacked down ala the license fee increase they wanted and what they got).

So what to do then Gaz? I am guessing that the police having humiliated her in the past makes them not her friend also?

First thing as said, is don't panic. Its quite a rare event for any type of gun to be moved to the 'especially dangerous' list without provaction i.e. a mass shooting/several shootings using that particular gun.

Make no mistake however, the first time a S1 shotgun, LBR/LBP or self-unloading rifle is used in such a way, they will be made Section 5.

I remember when LBR's first started being applied for and virtually without fail when the FAC came back with the variation for one on, it was accompanied by a letter saying something along the lines of "this type of firearm is currently under review and should the Home office reclassify the firearm as especially dangerous, no compensation will be paid". As far as i'm aware, they no longer send out those 'warning' letters and LBR's & LBP's are no longer an issue for TPTB. I think that is in no small part to the UKPSA/F4i and more recently the NRA running legitimate competitions using such guns. :good:

I also got one of those letters when i finally got my MARS variation approved (although the letter they sent was actually so badly worded that it actually said Durham police WOULD pay for compensation :good: ). Watch out for the next FELWG minutes to see if they get another mention. If they don't then you can probably forget about it. N.B. The FELWG now only meet twice per year and the minutes of the last meeting aren't released until they have been agreed at the next meeting so there is always at least a 6 month delay in them being published. Finding where they've actually been published is also quite a mission at times, but i'm sure theres nothing to read into that..... 8-)

Strangely i never got that letter from s yorks but then they are pretty laid back there. Possibly Durham was the only one that did it.

"especially dangerous" what the f**k does that mean? Define dangerous?

It's a rather misleading statement engineered to encourage an emotional rather than a rational response.

The people who propagate, disseminate and advocate these kind of statements are far more dangerous.

Guns are NOT dangerous - maybe the wee things that come out the barrel are - but NO gun is more or less dangerous than another -unless you use it as a club.
Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!

I'd rather have something light weight and polymer thrown at me then be beaten round the head with a swing rifle.

Does that follow being choked to death with all that bondage gear used while shooting one?

Crimestoppers "shop-a-shooter hotline" being relaunched?

#50 Post by Solidslug »

Hi All

I'm new to the forum, so if this post is in the wrong section please accept my apologies.

I have recently read on UK Shooting that the Firearms and Explosives Working Group (FELWIG) headed by ACC Marsh of Hampshire Police are looking to relaunch their shop-a-shooter hotline..!

Section 3.6 b of their latest meeting minutes which can be found here: http://www.npcc.police.uk/documents/cri ... h%2015.pdf)

states "The Crimestoppers Hotline was launched briefly and will be replaced with a GunSafety Security Line... which will be publicised to shooting communities nearer the time..."

If anyone objected to this last year, you may like to object again! Please get in touch with your shooting organisations and MP's to stop this before it starts!

many thanks
