No problem it's cool. BTW with regards to "would I like a lesson", hey sure why not. Every day's a school day and if I learn something new then it's all good.

Browning_grrl wrote:Another colonial question..... sorry...... but, I've seen references here to "booking" at Ranges over there? Does this mean you have to reserve a spot at a specific time, in advance? And if so, do you have to specify what gun you'll be using, what ammo, etc etc? Also, does that mean you can only shoot for a specific length of time?

I am curious because I've never run into this over 'ere..... Thanks. :)
Yep you log in with ID & password, it asks for who you are or your club ID, then what range distance type of firearm & target face, then it lets you select options like number targets & markers etc have tried to add a screen shot less address ID etc. On the page before is a @i accept all the T&C's' button inc Muzzle Brakes in particular.

Times are AM or PM you pay for a full 4 hrs regardless of using 2 or less. (or if fog comes down!)

Its not a rock up & shoot place. if a member & you have a marker (kid :-) in tow) you can rock up pay & shoot but sometimes they will say no targets are on the range or the military / Civil Nuke police are using it. Stickledown is usually available but the butts are locked after 8:30 / 13:30 & markers cant leave till the hooter at 12:30/17:30 because the road is in the danger area of Pirbright ranges (look the place up on google & you will see it all.

At my club range you turn up, sign in, have a brew and a bit of banter, shoot XX hours, have another brew and more banter then go home. Can shoot 6 days a week, closed on Mondays, 9.30am to 4pm weekdays, 10am to 4pm on a Saturday and 10am to 1pm on a Sunday and I've never had to book in advance.
Other than a Monday it is only closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, Easter Sunday and Monday and Remembrance Sunday and if winter snow gets really bad.

I just show up, with my gate key, open the gates, turn on the lights, stick up some 'Range In Use' signs & have at 'er. Usually nobody else there, unless it's a Sunday morning 'Shoot' or some such thing...... :)

Black coffee, no sugar in my case as I don't drink tea very often ( usually if I run out of coffee!).
