I visit Scotland on occasion. Is it possible to add my 80 year old Diana to my FAC so I may take it with me?

In fact is it possible to add a non-FAC gun to a FAC by request.

Would a European firearms pass do?

Nope
Nope
&
Nope

You'll need a temporary visitor permit issued by Police Scotland (or whoever gets the winning ticket of being lumbered with the administration)

EU Firearms passes are free, they want to charge for a visitors permit. Me thinks you'll get few visitors for comps anymore for airgun shooting now?

The Scottish government pledged to introduce the licensing scheme following the death of Glasgow toddler Andrew Morton, who was shot dead by an airgun in 2005.
Can I make a slight correction for those less infomed about the Morton inident: The kid was shot dead by a drug addict friend of the drug pushing father and drunken tramp of a mother, NOT by an air rifle. The air rifle is innocent!

Said druggie had been taking shots at firemen trying to extinguish a fire nearby. Said druggy deliberately targeted the kid who was out playing unattended when he should have been at home in bed.. Assorted w@nkers posing as Scottish MPs immediately befriended aforementioned scum of the earth and used them to get to what we have now, a usless abortion of a law used to punish the law abiding when the fault was with drug using and pushing CRIMINALS! Now why is that familiar.

The Scottish Nazi party has shown itself as the true champion of criminals and scumbags. To see the fawning over that pair after the kid died was sickening. There should have been charges against them as unfit parents: child neglect at least, accessory to murder at best because THEY supplied the airgun!!!!!

No but if on the other hand you are visiting a range in Scotland and want to bring a rifle chambered in .30-06 then crack on! No permit required as long as you have your FAC.

Of course the Scottish border police checking each car on the M6/A74(M) checkpoint will be able to stop you bringing your lethal sub 12ft/lb Diana without the correct paperwork whilst waving through the rifle capable of punching through a steel helmet at 600 yrds!

Or how about if you are participating in a Practical Shotgun competition North of the border and have a Section 1 magazine fed Saiga M12 12bore with you and associated drum mag....noooo problem but don't put an air rifle in the boot without a permit....

I read today that Labour described the legislation as flawed, but a step in the right direction. Why the f*** would they proceed with flawed legislation. Idiots.

The reason it is flawed from their point of view is that they think they should be banned altogether along all legally held firearms in Scotland.

I suppose losing certain air guns in a boating accident won't happen, eh?
