Straightpull FAL valuation?

Re: Straightpull FAL valuation?
I have fired one and it suffered with extraction issues with both factory .308 and milsurp it was a para version with a short barrel. Not overly accurate and although a novelty at the time better military rifles that extract have come along ie the lmt. Value on the one I know forsale id say 1200 and then rebarrel it as its a dissapointment as it is.
Re: Straightpull FAL valuation?
Sounds like there is a bit of lucky dip going on - The extraction on mine has always been robust and definitely requires a firm hand, but the only things that have stuck have been milsurp. A good sharp pull and 308 brass just ends up in the next lane. Or further
The accuracy has always been surprisingly good too - there are plenty of stories of 4moa or more but I think if you were a good homeloader you could get this to near the inch. I reckon a lot of the problem for people is the trigger - it is heavy (not creepy)and it takes some getting used to for sure. My mate absolutely hates it....which makes me laugh every time!
I feel like saying it's a real man's gun, but I'm not sure I qualify.

It's iconic and if you don't see it's charm you'll never understand it's value. Mine with good factory ammo is 1.5moa and I hope to get this to 1moa with load development. Not sure if it's possible, but there's no reason not to try.
I love mine and it's simply not for sale.

The only reason I'm thinking of trying something else is that after putting about 200rnds through it the other day I felt proper beaten. I'm a big girls blouse!

If you don't feel the love then let someone else enjoy it. You've given me an excuse to parade mine, not a great photo, but bloody nice rifle...

Re: Straightpull FAL valuation?
Probably alright if your a boz hander or shoot off a bipod. But for a right hander trying shoot standing with it it's a pain in the ass

IIRC this one was in Northern Ireland though. Seemed pretty cheap compared to mainland dealers.ordnance wrote:Here is one that was for sale here a while back, if it helps.

Re: Straightpull FAL valuation?
I've got a similar one. The one careful lady owner I bought it from had fitted an extended cocking handle made from turned alloy fitted to a replacement slide. Was going to swap back to original fro sake of looks etcbut so far I've kept it fitted as it makes a real difference to reducing extraction effort. I'll try and do a pic later if it helps.jackpoint wrote:Now I feel unfaithfulIt's iconic and if you don't see it's charm you'll never understand it's value.![]()

In terms of value as has been said they were made from new as SP only and unlike L1s they don't make them anymore. Last one I saw for sale recently was up for £1600 and it didn't hang around.
