Considering at one time, three of the most copied guns in the world featured in their catalog when almost no one else made them...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

It is doing well, granted its slowed for the panic buying of 2013-14 but still at an all time high. Colt relied too heavily on military contracts that dried up, their stuff's patents expired so everyone and their mother could make an AR and 1911. Couple that with neglecting those markets and you have a company that struggled when it finally decided to try and make it right. These things happen. Its why Winchester is now owned by FN among other things.
