Are they metal coated in bakelite or are they just made of bakelite?

The AK47/AKM are bakelite ( actually phenolic resin ) with a metal bit impregnated to serve as mag lug. The baseplates are metal.Demonic69 wrote:Are they metal coated in bakelite or are they just made of bakelite?
Surprisingly rugged !! They were introduced to reduce weight.
