As I am now of advanced age and my eyesight is getting worse and I find it difficult to shoot my target rifles, even with corrective lenses in the rearsights.
I am looking for advice regarding scopes, I have a 16X Weaver on one target rifle that seems to work well once I set it up properly, but re-focusing is a right pain in the prone position.
Can anyone reccomend me a decent simple scope that will suit me out to 1,000 yards but will not cost a a small fortune, with easy focusing and decent eye relief and cross hair reticule.
Something in the 8 to 20+ power bracket.
My budget is (very) limited, I just cannot afford or justify the £1000+ for some that I have seen advertised.
Many thanks
Please recommend a scope....

Re: Please recommend a scope....
Well, this is a frequent question. The best value decent scope would probably be from the Sightron range - if you want to shoot out to 1000 yds I'd be looking at the 8-32 with LRMOA reticle for about £850.
If you drop too low in price you will be into the Chinese offerings - which can be OK - but don't pay too much. Fox Firearms do a great 8-32 for £125. I tested it recently, comparing it to the latest 7-42 Leupold and my 8-32 Nightforce NXS . OK it wasn't as good but it wasn't far behind and very usable at 1000 yards.

Take a look at the vortex offerings. Very well made and within your budget.
Re: Please recommend a scope....
My Father recently got to point where a scope was necessary - We've put a Nikon M223 4-16 x 44 scope on his new No.4...It has a nice simple fine reticle, forgiving eye relief and appears pretty robust...it's been excellent at 200, 300 and 600 and we're eager to try it at 900 and 1000...
...for £350 (delivered from USA) we're very happy.

A decent second paw Kapps, Pecar or Lisenfeld oughtn't to break the £400 mark and will be rugged, robust, reliable and can be had in magnifications up to x12

+1 for Vortex
I have a Crossfire II. Just over £200, eye relief is about 4 inches, lifetime warranty
