Low-power scope for lever-action

I'm thinking of putting a low power (perhaps 1.5 to 2x?) scope on my Marlin 1894c, with the idea of using it with both eyes open (I seem to be able to do this ok with a 3x scope on another rifle - no eye dominance problems) for action/practical shooting at ranges up to perhaps 50yds. I don't know much about scopes (the one on my other rifle is a cheap air-rifle scope). Any suggestions? Most of the scopes out there seem to be of higher magnification.

Not sure of budget - can I get something reasonable for £200?

Leupold Scout Scope, but a little over the budget and you'd need a scout rail. Leupold 2-7x33 for a standard configuration. Around your budget as well.

Simmons WTC (Philippines version) 1.5-5x20 if you can find one, superb quality scopes and the odd one turns up on ebay etc. for around £50 to £80

The Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x24 with illuminated v-brite reticule has the same unlimited lifetime warranty as the rest of the Vortex range. Comes in at just under £200.

I have a Bushnell Legend Ultra-HD 1.75x-bowl on my BLR - incredible clarity even under very low-light conditions. Highly recommend. :)

Why such low power? I shoot mine on at least x12 at 25yds. The better you get the more mag you should be able to use.

Wider field of view at low magnification, better for target acquisition at relatively short ranges especially when hunting???.......just a thought.

I use a 4x mag scope out to 700m+ with no problems.

That is precisely why. My whitetail/bear area is extremely dense cover. The furthest out you're even gonna see either one is maybe 75 meters, if that. I have no use for more magnification with the type of hunting I do.

Thanks, all, for the suggestions. As people have said, low power for target acquisition and shooting with both eyes open - in my case for practical and action shooting. I'm looking at the cheaper options since my use (shortish range, daylight conditions) should be fairly undemanding,
