Semi Auto Air rifle

#1 Post by huntervixen »

Morning all,

A mate of mine was going on about a new air rifle about to be introduced into the UK, not one of these Airsoft things, but a legal limit 12fb .177 or .22 magazine fed semi auto...

Never seen such a beast for sale in the UK, anyone heard any whispers??

I haven't bought an Air rifle since my beautiful and now very collectable BSA Mercury Challenger in 1985....this just might change things though!

ASI Paratrooper, only needed cocking, was self loading.

As you're not allowed a rifled barrel I can't see the point

We think some of the early Air Arms air rifles had a similar self loading mechanism to the ASI too: a tube full of pellets that were fed into the breech, one by one (usually) , when the cocking lever was pulled.

Oh my god, :o that's a lot of money for a smooth bore .... So the law says semi auto air rifles have to smooth bore, not really much point to that one then kukkuk .

I was thinking what an excellent pest control rifle such a beast would be, especially in urban areas were .22LR is overkill, but fast follow up shots are required, pigeons for instance.

Look at this a semi auto 5 shot

STEYR HUNTING 5 Automatic

The new HUNTING 5 Automatic embodies, like all STEYR air rifles, the benefits that are brought about through decades-long experience and manufacturing of highest quality compressed air weapons, using high end materials. The magazine allows five quick shots in aiming position and gives maximum safety, as the pellet is fired directly from the magazine. With a removed magazine, no diabolo remains in the breech.

5-fold STEYR quality:

The automatic repeating bolt action allows 5 quick shots directly out of the magazine
Fast rate of fire due to proven STEYR piston system
Controlled firing due to low mass movement
Patent-pending magazine sealing
Bounce free system
Maximum safety: No projectile/diabolo remains in the weapon after the magazine is removed
Additional external safety
650 mm barrel for maximum performance and longer compressed air cylinder for higher capacity
Ergonomic thumb-hole stock made from nut wood
Several options: Depending upon calibre (.177/.22) available with an energy up to 40 joule

There's several of these 5 shot semi-auto match air pistols about, all rifled barrels so I'm not sure how they get round the smoothbore problem, if there is one.
