Re: Expired FAC,
I sent in my renewal at the end of Jan and feo came round on 23rd March.
He said he wanted to get it sorted asap and was very helpful.
My expiry was 8th of April.
I heard nothing subsequently so emailed HQ on the 7th and no reply.
Phoned on the 8th (you can only phone between 1400 and 1600) and was told I would have to store my firearms!
She said they were overwhelmed. I offered supportive noises but also pointed out that I had jumped through the required hoops etc.
Anyway a very nice chap phoned me back a few minutes later and said he was doing the cert there and then and not to worry.
I am actually expecting it about now!
My previous renewal was about 6 weeks before I got the new cert.
In fact most of my renewals the cert has expired before I got the new one.
The whole thing is a shambles.
The sooner there is proper up to date structure in place it will remain so.
In this day and age we should be doing most of this online.
FEO`s doing visits as seen fit.
As for the OP the correct way, to stay within the law, is to lodge those firearms then take it up with HQ licensing.
I understand most forces baulk at issuing temp certs as it looks " bad".

Hampshire
About January I put a variation in and received back within a week.
March I put another change in and so far taken over two weeks and also been told they are overwhelmed.

Re: Expired FAC,
OK, well she spoke to the licensing manager and he said that her certificate was renewed on 31st March but that it hadn't been printed because they were waiting for a permission letter. So she DOES have a renewed certificate but will NOT be in possession of it until the 22nd April....

That's why I always insist on communication with FLDs via email or letter. If she had it in writing, she could be shooting...safetyfirst wrote:The FEO told her on the phone yesterday that she could crack on and go shooting at the club no problem, no section 7 needed, she just couldn't buy ammo.
Re: Expired FAC,
This happened to me. I demanded a section 7 and was told it would take as long to supply as my FAC.
I told them that as I had complied with their requirements on application lead times if I had not received either by 12:00 the next day (which was the day the certificated expired at midnight) I would transfer my firearms and shotguns to my local dealer and would be sending them the storage bill.
I had my FAC hand delivered by the FEO the next day at 10:30. He was not a happy person.
