"Open" FAC cost

does it cost the £26 variation fee for the police to "open" a FAC ?

What is an "open" fac, thought only RFD`s were allowed this. If its what I think it is.

I believe zzr is talking about an "open" ticket - to shoot over any land that is deemed appropriate by yourself (within the law) as opposed to only the land you have written on your ticket.

No idea on the variation fee though, sorry zzr :(

good question! mine was opened at the same time that I had a one for one in, as far as I am aware there was no charge to me.

Bofor an "open" certificate removes the need for ground to be shot over needing to be approved by the Chief Constable. the shooter is allowed to decide whether or not the shot is safe. (as indeed is your responsibility in law regardless of whether the Police have looked at the land or not )

No, should not cost anything. I've had clay shooting, ammo & humane dispatch added to my ticket without extra fees.

It costs £20 to increase the number of firearms held by submitting variation form 202.

No cost if the variation is only to change the conditions on a certificate.

So why the two different types of stiffycate ? Are some people deemed more capable than others of assessing if a shot is safe?

They tend to restrict a first time certificate holder and open the ticket later to allow them to shoot on uncleared land they have permission on if they can evidence safe shooting and relevant shooting experience.
