Ouch!

#1 Post by Blighty »

Sorting through some Holiday snaps tonight and came across this. Taken a few years ago in the Army Museum in Hanoi, 'nam.
Taken through glass but you get the idea. Don't rate the chances of the two grunts who were carrying either rifle.

You certainly wouldn't want to be holding either firearm when that happened to them ..... it really brings home the human cost of war when you are confronted with such museum exhibits, I remember taking a trip out to Khe Sanh, this was a long while ago now and it wasn't the sanitised place it is today, very poor local "diggers" were about everywhere, scavenging for bits and bobs to sell, very sad indeed.

A result of one such little dig, brought up a collection of twisted webbing, loaded M16 magazines and a US marine leather combat boot, laces sliced through the middle were a medic had clearly removed it from some poor injured Marine.....

Wonder what happened to the pilots?

Vietnamese attempt at modern art.

Wouldn't be a Blighty thread without a Mosin. RC Mauser in the background.

Plaque says something like 'donated by the people of Hungary'. Bayonet removed preempting the Jock Gubmint by several decades.

I can't see anything wrong with the M14, what's happened to it? Just looks mistreated to me.
