How many people here shoot left-handed

I shoot pistols right handed and rifles left.

I was a natural left hander but we weren't allowed to be so at school, right handed only.

I was shooting long arms from an early age so it came up naturally to my left shoulder. I started pistol shooting in my early twenties which by that time I had been forced into being right handed.

Eye dominance is irrelevant for me as keep my eyes closed when shooting, nasty, noisy, fiery dangerous things guns.

I just can't shoulder anything comfortably with my right shoulder. I think right side of my body is underdeveloped if that is possible? In any event, my left shoulder feels different.

Of course there should have been an option to vote "I'm right handed but left eye dominant.... but still shoot right handed..." :)

I learnt to shoot right handed before I knew anything about dominant eyes, and the habit it too hard to break now.

I find it makes no difference when shooting rifles... (its actually helpful when using red-dot sights).

With Pistols I just shift the gun to the left a bit and use the left eye.... call it my "ultra modified weaver" stance..

This is probably one of the few things I benefited from being born in a time other than the late 1800's

Was it really the welsh that gave us that term? I dread to imagine how they thought it up.

From what I can see its welsh for the s word, so s word hand. Mind you never call someone down south Berk as its from Berkshire Hunt, which you can guess what word that is derived from.

He was a son of the 4th Earl, and a rather unpleasant chap. He took the mastership of the Oakley, I believe, and caused no end of problems there, until he left. He also fought a duel, and was very fond of pugilism
He kept both foxhounds, and staghounds - for hunting carted deer - in Middlesex, and the Berkley hunt country was said to extend from Berkley Castle to Wormwood Scrubs.
The country in Middlesex became the Old Berkley country, then amalgamated into the Vale of Aylesbury back in the early 1970's, and the Berkley hunt remains Gloucester based.

So it is "Berkley Hunt" which is the rhyming slang, due to the Hon Grantley Berkley.

Berkshire has the Old Berks, and the South Berks who amalgamated with Mr Garth's to be the Garth and South Berks and then again with the Vale of Aylesbury to be now known as the Kimblewick, for reasons which are still unpopular.

He is listed as a prolific writer and during the duel with James Fraser 3 shots were fired and no one killed. Contrary to popular beliefs very few people actually got killed during a duel. Most either survived feeling stupid or at worst a gunshot injury (George Canning was wounded in his Duel with the 2nd Marquess of Londonderry better know as Lord Castlereigh). That was due to a requirement for smooth bored barrels for dueling pistols.
