AIA Owners / Back Sight

#1 Post by froggy »

Salut,

Do you know if a Lee Enfield Mk4 rear sight would fit a AIA rifle ?
If so , can I replace it easily or does it require rifle modification ?

thanks

I have a 7.62 x 39 and fitted a jungle carbine rear sight.
Easy to do, a bit fiddly, and no mods required.

thanks Tony .

I was thinking about something like this - the seller describes it as "Mk2 rear sight for the No.4 Lee Enfield. 300/600yard flipover battlesight".

IF that's the whole set then it's lacking the retention pin for the axis pin. Do you have the sight spring already in your AIA?

If you want a more refined No.4 sight then there's one in for sale section ;)

Yes, the dimensions of the AIA and No4 action are identical, and so all of the rearsights are exchangeable without modification.

Of course the original Enfield sights are calibrated for MkVII .303" ammunition, for the respective sight bases of the No4 and No5, and for use with bayonet fitted at ranges up to 300.

In practical use, you just have to identify the corresponding 7.62x39 or 7.62x51 sight settings by trial and error.

Parker Hale sights also fit:
