I presume that with all the increases that'll make it more attractive to privatising and then bad service as like G4S in Lincolnshire.

Yep I kept on saying we were getting shafted with the annual increase but the " I'll still pay it if I pay more I'll get better service" brigade always come out. 5 years time the cost will be significantly more mark my words.

So is it just coincidence that today I get a letter urging me to renew my FAC & SGC before they expire in July?

I think I may just wait until April 7th.

Here's the explanation.

Apparently fees have not gone up in ten years and when they asked us, we said they should go up.

Go figure.

See what the cost will be in five years time.

Our national bodies "negotiated" and agreed this on our behalf using the threat of a Labour government as a reason for acquiescence but absolutely no assurances that Labour won't hike it all up again anyway.
On the contrary I don't think we have been shafted at all. An increase in fees was absolutely inevitable since the last rise was 13 years ago and I think the likes of BASC have actually done a very good job to keep the rise as low as possible while at the same time insisting on improvements to service.
I don't like the rise in fees any more than anyone else but in the circumstances I believe that BASC have done the best that they possibly could.

Well I know I got my first FAC in 2002 and it was £50 then!

If you don't think we've been shafted your very shirt sighted. When in may we have a lefty government who totally oppose the ownership of firearms do you yhink they will "play fair" With the costs!? No course they won't! They now have a way of drastically reducing firearms ownership without even having a parliamentary debate!
