I f***ing HATE jags!!

#1 Post by Blackstuff »

No not the beyond mid-life crisis, never driven passed 50mph car, the cleaning variety!

Specifically this for the Bisley/Parker Hale rods **** **** ;

Does anyone know if they do an 'eyelet' type one like this;

I've seen the 'wire loop' one they have for .410 shotguns which MIGHT work in a .30 rifle, but i'd rather get something designed for a rifle bore. I need one for .223 and .308

Cheers

I cant help you on that but I moved over to the Pro-Shot spear tip jags and brushes.
There is an adapter to fit PH rods.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Tim Hannam does the full range of Proshot kit, patches, tools, rods, and some rather nice coated Lyman rods and handles.

Probably me using it wrong! lol But i just can't get the patch to stay on unless its soaking in cleaner, and even if i do get it on i can never seem to exert any force on the rod without it either coming off, getting jammed or feeling like i'm about to wreck my rifling :bad: I also like to use the 'normal' eyelet jag as you can go backwards as well as forwards for cleaning the chamber, or for coating the barrel with a smaller/loose patch

Are these the mystical spear tip jags of which you speak;

Can you get them for Bisley/PH rods?

Yes you can get them for Parker hale rods. I have a PH rod and a Pro shot spear jag with correct female thread to fit. They sell an adapter if you just have the male pro shot spear jag.

Also, to answer your question about two way scrubbing, you can do this fine in the bore if you use the correct size patch and jag so long as you don't exit the muzzle. Cannot comment on chamber cleaning two ways though, I always do this one way to ensure any gunk doesn't come back into the action.

Yeah, I've always been well advised to only ever push patches one way through the barrel. from breach to Muzzle.

The bullets only travel one way, and you don't pull any crap into the action of your rifle this way...

Thats exactly why the spear tipped are made the way they are, so you push them through with the patch on, and pull them back the patch pops off at the muzzle end...
