Importing blank AR15 uppers and lowers, section 1 or section

#1 Post by safetyfirst »

Hello all.

A legal question for you RFD's out there.

If I wanted to import a load of AR15 upper and lower receivers into the UK, are they considered a section 5 item until they are assembled into a section 1 UK legal firearm?

A second question is are there any restrictions in place exporting these from the US, aside from licenses and ITAR etc?

They would be imported to a UK RFD, but would we need to be section 5?

Any advice would be most appreciated and of course not legally binding ;)

Ok. After some enquiring, if you know a friendly RFD, building your own AR ain't hard. Nice.

An even better friend will teach a man to fish ;)

I've rebuilt my own quite a few times, bit of a hobby. My local RFD is something of a proper engineer, his workshop is pretty serious, if you can see past the 75,000 objects it's got laid around it (new shop, not quite sorted yet)
