No. If you don't pay for insurance you can't exactly claim on it! NRA isn't responsible for the nature or completeness of a competitors policy.

I read this that shooters rocking up to shoot shotgun comps at Bisley run by the NRA had better make sure that they have adequate insurance. If they aren't members of the NRA they might not be covered and UKPSA shooters had better specifically check if they are covered shooting NRA comps.

Can't see much wrong with this but then I recently joined the NRA so I'm horribly biased.

No so, if you are not a full member of the NRA then you are required to pay a Non-Members Fee to shoot in an NRA Match, that 'Meeting Fee' (about £6.50) is to cover insurance.

Why would members of the UKPSA think they're covered by the insurance of an agency they're not a member of?
And that actually bears no relation as to whether or not they have insurance with the UKPSA.
The head of UK shooting? He'll be backing a ban so long as it doesn't affect his own.

Probably and they might very well have.

I'm Secretary of a club and an association and our members are insured through the NRA affiliation. Not sure how big UKPSA is as to whether they will have their own insurance deal sorted out - how many members do they have?

There is obviously more to this than what is on the website so probably best not to speculate too wildly (and no I don't have a clue what is happening before anyone thinks I might have )

Now I am relatively new to the shooting sport proper and the Byzantine world of UK Gun politics in regard to the various organisations and clubs.

But to me it seems that the NRAUK is trying to push the UKPSA out of business and take over practical shooting entirely for itself, especially as it's one of the fastest growing and most enjoyable shooting disciplines out there.

And I do know a bit about history and certain organisations throwing certain kinds of firearms under the bus after certain tragic events rather than doing their job...

I think UKPSA is on it's way to a couple of hundred thousand members now and has provided comprehensive insurance for many years, something I'm sure the NRA are aware of.
As you said Outsider, the NRA are peeved because their takeover bid failed so now they're casting aspersions and trying to sow doubt.
It's a bit sad, the UKPSA guys had nothing but good things to say about the NRA
