If you like M855A1 - you can have it. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. If I needed ammunition meeting the Laws of Armed Conflict, I'll take Mk 318 or Mk 262 instead, all day long. Otherwise, there are a lot better projectiles out there for terminal performance without the overly complicated construction of the M855A1.

You think the A1 is more complicated to make than trying to to fit a steel penetrator concentric with the lead and jacket?
Besides the point is army isn't going to be buying any more, LC isn't going to make it any more and when existing stocks dry up this ban will only affect imports of foreign SS109.
