Selling ethics

#1 Post by Dangermouse »

Some may have noticed that I have recently been trying to sell some gear to raise some cash - sadly not for spending on shooting.
I currently have a range finder on ebay and was contacted by a prospective buyer asking if I would post to the Ukraine?

I decided that I didn't want to become embroyled in any conflict or have a knock at the door so politely replied that i did not think that our postal service would be able to get it to them due to the conflict and that I did not wish to fall foul of the UK authorities.

He replied saying ok but that he was a volunter fighter and it would have been safe to send it.

It all raises a number of questions but I wondered what the forum thoughts were?

Why take the risk? Almost certainly other buyers out there.

If in doubt - don't!

Anyone can say anything - and it just could have been a "try on".

Always ask yourself: "What sort of headline could a tabloid write about this?"

Can't fault you on this. I'd have taken the same stance.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I'd speak with the government.

Their principles, integrity, morals are all for sale so no reason why their ethics shouldn't be as well.

I had a similar experience, it's just not worth the risk.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.
