So who has written to there MP to see what there standpoint on shooting and the ownership of private firearms is?

I've just received a reply from my MP Mr Soams and he's very positive regarding our sport and is a keen sportsmen himself. ;)

Yep me too. I regularly pester my MP (Andrew Turner MP Con) about shooting and in fairness he always does his bit and writes to the Home Office etc... He did however vote for the 97 ammendment so I do remind him of that.

I've recently been writting to the candidates from the other parties now the General Election is coming up. Only the UKiP candidate has replied and hes very pro was a shooter himself.

Every shooter should be writting/emailing or tweeting their MP's and/or candidates. We often hear negative comments about our associations not lobbying enough, well lets not forget we can all do some lobbying ourselves and whilst not to everyones taste twitter is a great way to get direct access at our masters!

Still if enough people make it clear to these "representatives" what will happen if they vote for things else don't want they will have to vote the way we want. Well that's the theory anyway!

Every point in writting, if he/she? is your MP they are obligated to pass any questions/queries etc... to Gov. depts like the Home Office especially if you asked pointed and direct questions.

Sure they won't agree with you but they cannot ignore you. Also write to the other candidates who are looking for election in May, see what their thoughts are. Never has shooting had better representation or political weight and this can only get better if we challenge people like McCabe.

Aye - that's why I started my reply with "yep" as in I have written to mine (a couple times) but it serves little purpose as she's as anti gun as it gets being a blairite. She knows my views, I know hers and that's that.

As it happens she and Labour would never get my vote - and I'm now totally not convinced by any of the others anymore.....

I've written to my MP and the major current candidates against him. Only the UKIP and Labour candidate responded. The UKIP chap was very non committal and the Labour chap... well he didn't say he wanted to outright ban them.
