Re: Gun attack in Paris, 10 dead - possible terrorism?
I have just watched Lord West being interviewed by Andrew Marr. Lord West suggested that it might be a good idea to have tighter controls on ammunition!!!!!!

The Lord Wests' of this world are so far out of touch with reality it beggars belief! One can only assume that he means the 'commoners' and not people like himself i.e. the lorded gentry.

He said that the UK has very tight controls on Firearms and Ammunition and maybe we need tighter controls on Ammunition.Jenks wrote:I have just watched Lord West being interviewed by Andrew Marr. Lord West suggested that it might be a good idea to have tighter controls on ammunition!!!!!!

Don't imagine the Home Office is planning anything though, just a passing comment from a simple sailor, you know the type, full of Rum Bum and the Lash.

From Wiki...Lord West...
"In November 2007 he told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme that he was not "totally convinced" of the need for 42-day detention (without trial) of terrorist suspects. But less than two hours later, following a meeting with the Prime Minister, he said he was "convinced" of the need for the new legislation. He later claimed: "Being a simple sailor not a politician maybe I didn't choose my words well... Maybe my choice of words wasn't very clever". The incident was an embarrassment for the government, particularly as West was the minister charged with navigating the controversial legislation through the House of Lords."

When someone says "it's not about the money" you know what? it probably is all about money!
Re: Paris shootings prompt stricter uk gun laws on ammo
After years busy creating a monster, now unable to question his dogma, Lord West displays typical Lefty/Liberal Ostrich' syndrome running around for innocent scape-goat in order to hide his own responsibility ...

This just affirms my belief that ALL politicians are ####'s and should be rounded up and sent in to outer space!!

I wonder how he believes that tighter controls on ammunition for law abiding license holders is going to stop or deter criminals from gaining access to illegal ammunition and illegal weapons.
I read an article the other day on the weapons that were recently used in France and the possible origins of them. The article stated that it was most likely that the weapons came from a former Russian block/USSR country via somewhere such as Italy. It's probably more likely that any would be terrorist in this country wouldn't be procuring any weapons/ammunition directly from this country and would be looking to European soil.

EDIT: Found the article I was referring too

If the criminals are intelligent enough to source illegal weapons, then I am sure they are intelligent enough to find ammunition for them.
Just why the feck Lord West believes that this rubbish has anything to do with FAC holders is beyond me.

There was a programme on radio 4 last week discussing the events in paris and one of the comments made , was that the security services had carried out an operation in Amsterdam to see how easily firearms could be aquired, apparently wothin a short time ( 2 hours if i recall correctly) an AK47 and ammunition had been purchased for 200 euros.
Which rather suggests that greater restrictions on legally held ammunition and firearms would be the wrong avenue to pursue.
