Why is this prick banning everything? What has spurred it?
Good question, maybe insecurity you will find some political parties that used or supported violence to get into power in the past don't like the thought of civilians having firearms. They tried to ban handguns in the past but shooters took it to the courts and won every time, so I suppose they decided to put an end to the legal challenges.

The scary part to me is the ban on practical. And the ministerial ability to ban certain classes of firearm.
I'll bet ukgovplc is watching this, if it works in expect to see something similar tried here.

This was a done deal in 2009.

In 2009, Ministerial powers were introduced to prohibit particular firearms or categories of firearms in a precise manner. Practical and dynamic shooting, a 'self styled extreme shooting activity' was banned

Their argument is a tiny minority of law abiding people can go rogue and guns "may" fall in to the wrong hands. I strongly suggest the current laws are more than adequate "when enforced." Had the police reacted appropriately to the "many complaints" about Thomas Hamilton, then Dunblane would never of happened.

I've just signed it.

This is why we need to keep pushing back against ACPO and the Home Office over here - what the Irish minister wants is a UK-style regime turned up to 11.

Signed, although I am getting fed up of these muppets constantly having to be reminded of the above.

You should just see the local gangstas teanews lining up to hand in their Mac10s every time there is an amnesty wallhead
