Attack on Shooting
I have just picked this up from my inbox, from my Club. Not heard any other confirmation. Has anybody else heard any rumours?
IPSC Eire Needs Your Support
Our IPSC cousins from Ireland are threatened with the banning of certain firearms which will wipe out IPSC shooting in the country. The Regional Director of IPSC Ireland, Andrew Pedlow, has asked for our support. Please read his message on the Forum and sign the petition via the link he has provided. http://ukpsa.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=3724
Sign the Petition via http://www.sportscoalition.org/ This could spread to other EU countries, so by supporting this petition you could also be heading off future legislation in the UK.
Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move it and circulate as necessary

Unfortunately, the thread you linked to is behind the UKPSA's password wall. Could you please copy the linked information's text into a new message or post a summary if this contravenes any forum rules?
Re: Attack on Shooting
As I am not a member of UKPSA, I just clicked on the second link, which takes you straight to the Sports Coalition petition page, which I have signed. I have no reason to doubt the source to my email.
Perhaps another forum member with membership may be able to provide more info?

Re: Attack on Shooting
Its not just the firearms, handguns for example are banned or in the process of being banned. The government is banning IPSC as they see it as, A ban on ‘practical shooting’ (a self styled extreme shooting activity).
Dermot Ahern Announces Introduction of Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 Act to introduce tough Gun Control Regime
Mr. Dermot Ahern, T.D., Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, has announced the signing into law of the Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009.
Minister Ahern said: "This Act is about halting the emergence of a gun-culture in Ireland. Experience in other countries shows us that any relaxation of controls on gun ownership or registration very quickly results in dramatic growth in firearms with many longer term negative downstream consequences. I will not allow that happen on my watch."
The Act introduces the most far-reaching gun control measures since the foundation of the state including:
· A ban on handguns.
· A ban on ‘practical shooting’ (a self styled extreme shooting activity).
· Ministerial powers to prohibit particular firearms or categories of firearms in a precise manner.
· A requirement for referees, background medical checks and standards for the safe keeping of guns in the home for all firearms licence applicants;
· Radically tightened licensing procedures for the renewal of currently licensed guns;
· New regulations governing target shooting Clubs and Ranges.
· Those involved in target shooting (rifle and pistol) will be subject to a more rigorous authorisation procedure by the Garda Commissioner;
· A new three year licence with outsourced fee collection and licence production resulting in greater efficiency and improved customer service at garda station level;
· New guidelines on licensing matters, published by the Garda Commissioner, which will be available to the public.
Minister Ahern continued: "The modernisation of the licensing system is a big step forward and will result in a better system all round, with benefits accruing at many levels. This Act gives the Garda Commissioner the additional powers he needs to address matters relating to firearms licensing."

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Re: Attack on Shooting
This was on airgun bbs a few weeks back:
legal requirements for reloading in uk? Irish reloaders need help!!
My government is trying to introduce laws that will only permit reloading under the most anal of circumstances.. reloading will only be allowed at approved ranges under supervision! in a cartridge filling room!!! Looks like only target shooters will be allowed reload
I'm intent on drafting a document that out lines the systems that other countries use to allow their guys reload from the comfort of their own homes aswell as setting out the reason why target shooters and hunters require reloading.
I'm looking for help sourcing the information related to the reloading legalities for Britain and Northern Ireland as my government thought it was being smart by detailing their take on UK firearm law as justification of a clamp down on CF Pistols(proposed ban), S\A CF rifles(proposed ban), S\A Shotguns cap > 3 cartridges(proposed ban) and on the sever restriction on the types of 22lr pistols allowed( only those allowed that are specifically designed for for Olympic competitions ££££3K??), all this is augmented by the most anal regime by which you could ever possibly reload under... Its enough to put you off reloading..??
This section is for reloading and that is all I'm going to discuss here but I just had to give a little background for those that aren't bothered with the link & even those that open it will soon get bogged down in the 64 pages of nonsense..
Not only am I looking for UK rules on reloading but I'm also looking for the rules surrounding reloading for Norway, Germany, Finland, Australia and Canada, as my government thought it clever to quote the rules in these countries in order to justify their tightening up of general firearms control.
This is what the said about UK in a public document.
See pages 47-49 of the link
http://www.justice.ie/en/JELR/2014.W....WG.Report.pdf
I'm going to have fight this with some well wrote documents and facts about each country..
You can see from the link that they have flagged countries where there has been mass shooting, at least to the best of my knowledge but I could be in error.
I'm going to show in my 'response letter' or 'letter of objection' that the countries shown as examples of firearm control all allow reloading in the comfort of ones own home.. This will surely resonate with the minister for justice and other politicians,,
Thanks for any help and if ye know about other countries laws re: reloading then share the wealth lads

Re: Attack on Shooting
Canadians can reload at home and anyone who says otherwise is talking out of their ass as we do it when we go up to the family cabin we have in Ontario. There are legal requirements as to the storage of reloading components.
