Armalon AL42 - .223

Hi all,
A new member from Suffolk and my first post.
Does anybody have any experience / opinions regarding the Armalon AL42 .223 rifle based on the Enfield No.4, apart from the relatively high price?
Their website prices all seem to be dated 2013, I have queried this with them, and await their reply when the world gets back to normal.
I wonder what the resale interest / value would be like?

A friend had one and thought very highly of it.
My own thoughts on shooting it was the Ruger magazine had a certain amount of slop when affixed to the receiver.

We have two Armalons, both pistol calibre carbines. One is in 9mm, the other is a fully moderated .45"ACP. The workmanship on both is superb - it's very clear that you do get what you pay for !

I reviewed one in .30 Carbine calibre some years back. A very impressive and accurate rifle, not cheap but there is a great deal of work in these conversions and Armalon does a very high grade job.

I sold this on a few years ago, it was on of Peter's very first AL42s, it shot very well my only criticism was that it would not feed reliably magazine rested. As you can see it was very well made.

I have had most of the pistol calibres through my hands over the years and they are indeed fine rifles but very pricey, especially new, notwithstanding the quality and design.

A friend of mine has an AL42 and I have first dibs on it when he sells it, he has had some minor feed/magazine issues with it but is a great shooter and has all the "options" fitted.

Why do I have first dibs on it, especially when it is in .223" which alongside the 308/7.62 have to be my least favourite cartridges of all time?

Because it is the last "development" of the Lee Enfield action in a rifle calibre and as such I will have an example in my collection, however as a .223" rifle I feel it is way over priced new. If you want to shoot .223" then there are far better rifles for the money out there.

Still it is your money and if it is something you must have then go to it, me I would never buy a new off the shelf rifle just as I would never buy a new car I just think it is a waste of money.

Regarding resale that will depend on what you want for it, if it is cheap enough then it will sell quickly, if you want to keep the value then at resale time you may have to wait a while for someone to come along who will meet the high price for what it is.

I have a AL42 and its a great rifle, Peter's workmanship is excellent. I also have a Armalon PC gallery rifle in 9mm and a AL30c both of which are also built on Enfield actions and are a joy to shoot.
Needless to say I do like Mr Sarony's products and highly recommended them, the AL42 may a little on the expensive side but that's the price you pay for a bit of quality, the fact that they were built in limited numbers and are no longer available new.
