Does anyone have a picture they can post with lots of people wearing milsurp clothes? What are people so outraged about? Can someone show me?

That's why the thread got bumped up this afternoon, I spotted Andrew Mercer bringing it up.

The funny thing is, the post not directly before it, but before that one was a bunch of guys standing around the firing point in full camo with the "dreaded" black rifles... If they don't want to give the public the wrong impression, then why would they post those photos, THEMSELVES.

They need a unified voice, to be consistent. You cant berate people for wearing it but promote pictures of it 3 days prior.

I'm going to make a random guess here, I suspect that the NRA FB page is not subject to management approval before the fact, and relies on someone "dobbing" them in after it has aired to the world, I didn't get chance at look at any forums today until after 23.30 so I may have missed a few posts sorry if I am repeating stuff already aired.

I imagine so, I just summed it up pretty well on FB as opposed to on here though.

They really need to be singing from the same hymn sheet. If they've got someone in change of posting to the social media, then they should know the NRAs position on such things. Can you imagine if they posted pictures of someone pointing a gun at someone else? It's an extreme example, and it's obvious to you and I, but as the official outlet of the National body for rifle associations, EVERY SINGLE POST should be considered the official word from NRA. If that means someone shouldn't be wearing camo, or down to someone pointing a firearm at another person. It should be by the rules of the association. Not to back pedal 3 days later when they've had some complaints... furthermore, if you're going to complain about it, don't leave the bloody offending photos on the page for all to see... It's crazy that they'll berate someone for their choice of clothing, give an official statement from the head of the organisation and then leave the photos of someone wearing just that in a promotional state.

It boggles my mind the level of ineptitude that's been shown here. And it highlights the out-of-touch people that are involved. The internet is instantaneous and full of people ready to pounce on the smallest indiscretion. They should know that they need to be ultra clinical with everything they post because people will take everything as gospel as it's from the official outlet.

Personally I don't have an issue with people wearing cammo, it's cheap and very functional - I have 5+ DPM jackets alone for shooting/work. Although I think the current issue MTP perhaps should only be worn by serving personal as to distinguish a bit. I know a lot of the issue MTP is either returned to stores or burnt, to try and avoid it ending up in civvies hands; so the MOD are obviously keen on a line being drawn.

Honestly, my views on wearing camo doesn't even come into it.

I have a love for all things that go bang. If I can shoot it, I'll have a go and probably enjoy it.

What gets my goat is that so many people, and many of them influential within the community (I noted MikMak and Mark Bradley both having digs at each other and other posters on FB) completely avoiding the issue and driving stakes between different disciplines, and further enforcing the segregated views of shooters each out to further ONLY their own discipline, even at the cost of losing or berating others.

It's kind of depressing to be honest that we paint ourselves in this light on such a public soap box.

I hadn't seen there were 58+ posts! Gosh it really is dire when you start reading them. I share your ethos - if it has a trigger and goes bang it's probably good fun. Why there have to be so many divisions is beyond me.

I only ref. MTP previously since if the MOD have a problem, ultimately it might result in range restrictions...If they are not fussed, then I see the whole thing as a non issue.
