I walked down the high street today in my loca, city and counted dozens of both men and women wearing camo jackets and or trousers. Camo is very much here to stay.

Those who oppose it with the wear another colour argument, why? I think people have an issue with the discipline not the attire really.

........... we all shoot in the same conditions on the same range so why are CSR people clearly so drawn to camouflage in such high numbers compared to any other shooting discipline?

Try running 100yds in a Creedmore or Tucker leather jacket with bondage sling & straps, adopt the kneeling position & shoot 10 then change mag etc! most TR/FTR/F-class kit is designed for static shooting vs military kit is designed for motion & protection, so it fits the bill. Hill walking kit comes close but at a price, but this inst really about practicalities, its about image.

Business opening anyone? - take a good military jacket & remake it from non camo gortex (pink, blue, green), bit of padding in the shoulder & elbows - bingo purpose built FTR/CSR shooting jackets?

All the outdoor clothing companies make practical, waterproof clothing; I have a full wardrobe of the stuff that would be fine for any CSR competition but none of it is camouflage. So I just don't buy the 'we're CSR we don't use mats therefore I'll wear full combats' argument.

Cost is an issue for nearly all of us. I watch the pennies as well - I need to. Saturday I'll be shooting in a very practical, waterproof, cheap jacket - it's blue.

They do. And I have 3 different ones, all rated to different levels of waterproofing, and breathability.

The last one I bought was nearly £200, and was super waterproof according to the sales guy and the technical labelling on the jacket. First time I wore it (not to a shoot) it let me down, and I was drenched.

My $40 (yes, dollars) surplus jacket and liner has never let me down. Even after being out in rain for hours.

Which do you think i'll wear if I can?

That's one of the huge advantages of "camo". Issue kit is not the cr@p we got in the 80's and 90's and surplus still makes for good sense to acquire at a reasonable cost, "outdoor, roll around" clothing.

Personally I think this has come about because a few of the chaps like Steve Houghton have gotten a hair up their ass about it and went whining about it to a friend who has a friend on this or that Bisley committee. The reasons given on that FB post is nothing but utter bollox.

Strikes me there is a significant lack of unity between the disciplines and my view is reinforced having read the Faceb**K comments. We are our own worst enemies.

Does anyone have a picture they can post with lots of people wearing milsurp clothes? What are people so outraged about? Can someone show me?

All my shooting clothing is musto. I bought it years ago and I mean lots of years ago it still serves me well. If I had to replace it I would buy musto. I don't own any camo gear. I don't have a issue with people wearing it either. Unless they turn up looking like Rambo wanabees and Iv met a few.
