Boyds Gunstocks

#1 Post by bradaz11 »

well a month or so ago, i bought a new stock for my ruger 10/22 from boyds, very happy, lovely stock. and was still cheaper than buying from someone in the UK, besides, no one had the colour i wanted.

I decided i wanted a nice coloured laminate for my rossi 92, so back onto boyds i went,

they have a new website..... so i selected the right stock and can get the colour i wanted too (although i would have to buy the forend separately as both stocks put me over the $100 limit) I go through to checkout, and they do not list a shipping option, only 'call for quote' yet they still show that they ship to the UK and as per usual they ignore emails and even FB comments. I can't call them as i only have my mobile and I can't do international calls on it.

not sure what i can do :(

aaarggh wallhead aaarggh

sorry i don't use it. Can i call a landline with skype?

i even thought that i would just try placing the order without the shipping and would see what happens, got an email from 'John Connor' (lol) telling me that they would cancel my order and i need to retry it with shipping. I have tried replying to his email too, still no luck

Brad, I just went to the Boyds website and placed a an order without completing it using a UK address. I think I know what's going on here. It could be the problem is that USPS will no longer ship gun parts of any kind to the UK because of some high terrorist alert bullshit. They usually use UPS for shipping within the US, not sure who they used for the UK but I suspect it was USPS

If you want I will call Boyds tomorrow and find out what the score is as I have unlimited long distance US and Canada

If you could, that would be brilliant. cheers

I don't think its an issue with USPS as the last box came through them, and it was after all this high alert carp. I do think its just an issue with their website as it's since its changed, their guy that emailed me even said that in his mail. But they just ignore any emails or messages.

its on the final checkout screen that i have the problems, I only have the option for call for quote.

I would have to ring up EE and get international calling added to my contract. then pay for the call to boyds on top of the call to EE and the extra fee on my contract, to possibly be told no...

Yeah I saw that when I tried it. I'll call tomorrow afternoon and ask them what the deal is with that.

Skype will do all that for you if you have a smart phone or laptop with microphone. It's voice over IP so you use your WiFi to make the call, just paying Skype for it, it's almost always cheaper than mobile operators and you can call anywhere in the world.
Sounds like Blu has you covered anyways :-)

Howdy Guys, okay well I called Boyds and asked them what the deal was regarding having to call them and they had a WTF moment. As you will know this is a new look website for them and they weren't even aware of the problem and the guy I spoke to at sales said they were kinda wondering why they had no international orders come in over the last few days.

I gave the guy I spoke to a UK address and I also gave him an old German address and the same thing happened for both addresses, you have to call them it said. SO, they are going to get in touch with the people who did their new website and have the problem fixed though the fella I spoke to said it will probably take a few days to have it fixed.

So keep looking and if there is no change after a week or so let me know and I will get back on it.
