Hawke Optics ballistic reticules - opinions

#1 Post by meles meles »

Does anyone here have experience of the Hawke Optics scopes with ballistic reticules (reticles if you must), for .22LT and .308 ? They seem relatively inexpensive...

Aren't all scope reticules ballistic? I have a Hawke scope and I'm happy enough with it. It's a sport HD 3-9x50 and it's been great on the VTR. I've not spent 10 times it's value on a posh scope though so I can't compare it

I have a 3-9x40 Hawke Frontier scope with mil-dot reticule fitted to my K31.

It has withstood several hundred rounds of ammo with no issues.

For the money, the optics are very good and it has performed well out to 800 yards.

Hawke scopes are excellent value for money - and if you add in the fact that they have a virtually unlimited warranty period, they are even better value. shakeshout

I have the Hawke 3-9x40 sport HD IR (illuminated reticle) with the .22LR graduations on my 10/22. It would be great for use in the field, but I'm tempted to change it for something more target orientated but hang on to it in case I get any future vermin permissions as it would be ideal on any bolt/semi .22 you planned to use in the field for rabbits etc. I can take a picture of the reticle if you want to get a feel of how it looks?

Although the Chinese are getting better with their scopes - even the glass is quite good - they have little feedback of 'real' shooting experience and, as such, they tend to struggle with reticle design. But, as long as it's fine enough, it's usually 'shootable'.
