1963~1964 Bisley Bible?

#1 Post by Strangely Brown »

Has anybody got one of the above that they could give me the Match Rifle details from it please?
I have a gap in my collection of Bibles from 1955 to 1968!

Looking for trigger weights, overall weights, specified barrel types and general Match Rifle Conditions for the year.

NRA Museum would do you a photocopy of the relevant pages if you can't get hold of one.

Keep an eye on Ebay as old Bibles quite often come up

Thanks Karen; I know Colin in Fultons will allow me to ferret through his copies if I get stuck.

Was hoping this would be the quicker route!

OK, have found 1963 and 1965 Bibles, can't find 1964 ATM, but the '65 MR details were unchanged from '64.

Basically, 1964 was the year that MR underwent major rule changes, switching from .303 streamline ammo to 7.62.

1963 barrel spec: "not exceeding 3 1/4 lbs. exclusive of any removable appliances" (e.g. galilean foresight)

1964 barrel spec: "barrel made by R.S.A.F. Enfield to design 21408" (weight unspecified)

Trigger pull unchanged at 4 lbs. minimum.

The other 1964 rule change of significance to MR competitors was the removal of their exemption from the rules on dress and aids to shooting.

Those are the basics, can scan the pages if anyone is interested.
