As far as F class goes I believe that there are a few things that are important:
Weight,
Clarity of Glass,
Reticle,
MOA range,
Track ability and
Quality of internals
You could argue warranty and finished looks are also important.
Unless you can afford a March there are not many other scopes that are in play, with the Nightforce being the main player, and some would argue that they are too heavy.
The last I saw Nightforce NXS 8-32 were selling for over £1600.
Sightron are selling for slightly over half that, and tick all the above boxes to an acceptable standard, so much so that they are a very common sight on the F Class firing line.
I know several F class shooters that would want to give me a good shake for talking about throwing so much weight at a scope, but as Ovenpaa knows (I think it was what started us talking way back when) I have been very interested in getting an IOR for some time now and am happy not to follow the rest when it comes to scope choice.

Re: New IOR scope 12-52x56
The Sightron is light which is the first plus point for it, I found the reticle of the one I looked through very nice albeit incredibly fine, it offers 50x magnification and it is less new than the price of a used Nightforce 42x. I cannot comment on tracking as I have not tried one at different distances.
I know the tall bloke is unhappy with the elevation turret of his 50x Sightron however he did take the gold at 800 yards last year so I guess something must be working OK!
As a high magnification alternative you could look at March but I honestly did pay less for our car than a new March. IOR's are heavy and I still think the turrets are clunky but as far as glass goes they are good, very good in fact. This new 52x could be a very special 'scope if it is as good as the lesser magnification offerings.

Re: New IOR scope 12-52x56
I think the IOR is one of those "secrets" in the scope world that people are not really taking in because it is not a well known name.
IOR and Zeiss both use Schott glass.
The weight is ever so important but I would rather look at the rest of the outfit in order to loose some weight than my glass.
I think buying something like a Sightron means that somewhere down the line one has to replace it.
As previously stated I have only ever looked through one but it was enough to put me off.
Now...if buying to potentially upgrade one day then financially it is a good idea to stick to something well known, something that will sell.
Maybe the Sightron will sell better on the second hand market than the IOR will.

Re: New IOR scope 12-52x56
Lee from Border Barrels was kind enough to reply to my queries on BH Monday,
This is what he said:
The IOR's stock list I get every fortnight does not even have it available. either their keeping it under hat until they have them ready or they sold out and sent them all to the states. Valdada seem to be there biggest dealer.
some one asked about this scope not long ago and I said they were available but looking at the sheet, I was mistakenly looking at the 6-24x56 .
Lee
I though the £1000 tag was a bit optimistic with the Yanks quoting around the $3000 mark. Looks like it might be out for Christmas, lets hope it is Christmas this year!

Just had a comprehensive reply written out to have it disappear - now walking away before something gets broken...
