Fair enough.

In a video full of tweed jackets and bolt action rifles, it was purely an amazing coincidence that the only "filler" photo of a rifle they could find was one of military clone rifles.

Silly old me with my complete lack of artistic or video training, but I thought that when discussing falling crime rates and needing a filler photograph to fill a few seconds of voiceover, maybe a photo of a police officer, a courthouse or something else with a connection to crime might be best.

I still want to know why, in a video series dedicated to sporting shooting, they chose to slot in a photo so out of the ordinary when compared to what they usually focus on - bolt action rifles, tweed jackets etc ?

I must be getting paranoid then kukkuk

"Much Ado About nothing".

I agree.
No need to get overly defensive or take offence because they just happened to use stock photographs of your particular favourite disciple.

JSC wrote:That news piece begins with a photo of airgun pellets with the voiceover; "over the last 10 years gun crime has reduced by more than half".

I suppose a dedicated air rifle shooter could complain that the image of pellets is being used to illustrate gun crime, but the reality is it has nothing to do with the words being spoken and neither does the photo of the CSR shooters.

I suspect whoever was editing that piece just didn't have enough relevant material to use as a background to the voiceover and just bunged in some stock photos they happened to have at the time.

As Blaze Publishing are behind The Shooting Show, why not speak to the NRA who's journal is also published by Blaze and see what their opinion is?
As I have already said, I have e-mailed the presenter. I await his reply.

And again, I really don't buy the idea that an organisation who are making shooting videos featuring sporting rifles being used on game, needed a filler photo and when they dipped their hand into their bucket of images, they just happened to come out with a photo of a military clone.

I would imagine their library has sporting rifle photos outnumbering military clone rifle photos by 1000 to 1 !!!!!

I respect your opinion but have to differ.

This is just another step on the road to demonising certain kinds of firearm, certain types of clothing used in shooting. Its just this time it has come from a fellow shooter which is annoying.

Anyway, no doubt the man himself has a great respect for all shooters regardless of what they wear or what rifle they shoot and he will be quick to e-mail a reply ASAP.

Sorry Breacher but while I don't particularly like Mr Carr or some of the views that he has previously expressed I can't see what he has done wrong in this instance. I am probably one of the first to shout that all shooters regardless of interests should stick together but I wonder if you were not being slightly prejudiced yourself when you wrote:

Far from tweed jackets the Sporting Rifle has often been criticised for Mr Carr's preponderance of the latest cammo gear.
They could equally as well have selected another action picture such as a gallery rifle event would we have had a similar outcry from a regular gallery rifle shooter especially in view of the recent Ottawa shooting which involved a Winchester underlever rifle.

I have nothing against tweeds ( I actually had a tweed smock handmade for stalking ) or bolt action rifles ( I use one for my stalking ) - my use of that was in context - I was retorting to the premise that the photo was coincidental and picked at random.

I am happy to wager that his hard drive has far more pics of tweed and sporting rifles than of military clone rifles so on the balance of probabilities, the choice of photo was more intentional than coincidence.

I don't see a problem with the video (i've seen far worse), and I don't buy the suggestion that Sporting Rifle is anti target shooting/black rifle either - the magazine incorporates 'Target Rifle' (a defunct magazine from the past), and includes a section on target shooting every month.

They need to steer away from showing "evil black rifles" as filler, .but don't have the balls to show the ethnic group responsible for the majority of UK gun crimes instead...

Op. Trident anyone?
