Importing firearm from UE

Speak with your firearms dept, I bought a gun from Germany about 10 years ago and had to get them to issue a European Article 7 form, or something like that.

I bought quite a few guns from Germany in the past.

The German FAD was sending the ones I was intending for France straight to my French address. The ones I wanted to shoot in the UK, I got him to send them by transporter to my UK FAD. It was only couple of years ago & went clock work. The cost of transporting one box was quite expensive but he fitted multiple rifles so it was reasonable per unit .

Maybe your Polish seller can do the same and avoid the administrative hurdles if you want to do it yourself ?

Back in 2009 I bought a rifle from Germany and the company assumed that import licenses were required. The following is what I sent them after a bit of research:

My UK Registered Firearms Dealer (we refer to them as RFDs) can supply his licence details which can be checked by you with the authorities in the UK. I will ask him to supply the details for your verification.

I have been informed by one of the main RFDs in the UK, G. E. Fultons of Bisley http://www.fultonsofbisley.com/history.htm that the sale of this type of firearm needs no import license within EEC countries. Apparently, all you need to do is arrange delivery by courier to my dealer in the UK. For your information, a straight pull MP44 is classified as a Section 1 firearm in the UK.

Again, I'm sure this can be checked online and this information may help in your negotiations for a UK Distributor.

That brings me to payment for an order. If after checking the above, you are satisfied, I can pay you directly by credit card and you deliver to my RFD or I could take the more complicated (and expensive) route of paying him then him paying you. Which would you prefer if we can proceed?

I've checked with the Government Department responsible for import licensing and the procedure seems to be simpler than we first thought.

It seems that on receiving the order from the RFD and verifying his details all you then need to do is raise a European transfer (export) document that accompanies the parcel. We here don't have to raise any import paperwork at all.

If you are happy to proceed on the strength of this I will ask my RFD to send his credentials and the order.
