They seem to be freely available in lots of places. I didn't realise how popular this gun is until i started looking into getting bits and bobs for it.

Saw LOTS of semi-auto vz58 rifles on sale at the February show
Only about £350 or so (from memory) - may have been a smidge less

If you are a dealer semi auto Vzs' can be picked up in the Czech Republic for €75 each!!!.After looking at several Vzs' I'd sooner have my AKs'.

I dearly love the work of glorious Comrade Michael but not to sure if I'll follow you on this path Comrade Snayperskaya.

The standard Vz 58 is :
- very well made,
- lighter system (both the weapon & standard mags)
- as reliable,
- as accurate if not better,
- controls better full-auto,
- safety/fire selector is more ergonomic,
- keeps bolt open on last round (in know the Yugo does but ...)
- can reload using stripper clips directly into the mag via the open bolt,
etc... etc...

It is a very personal judgement, I am a big fan, but objectively there is not much to dislike about the Vz 58 really ...

I suppose its what you are used to, I have no problem with AK ergonomics.The reason the Czechs stuck with the Vz rather than switching to the AKM had more to do with national pride rather than any advantages in the field.

I was the Safety Supervisor for a chap using one at the last CSR League Match, accuracy was reasonable but he did have a few malfunctions which I'm sure he'll tease out.

I did butts duty with him following the infantry match, by the time he's got to 200M all his ammo was spent He seemed very impressed with the rifle, as Mike said brass is thrown about 45 degrees forward and right.

He certainly seemed pleased with his purchase, accuracy wise he told me that 1.5" at 100m rested was easily possible so perfectly ok for CSR or similar disciplines.

May consider one myself when I get around to letting my speedmaster go
