Websites selling stock they don't have!!!

#1 Post by Primer »

One thing that really pee's me off with online sellers is when you order something and then your order gets cancelled as they don't have it in stock.

I've now placed 2 orders with Ukmcpro and the last one was cancelled as the red dot was out of stock and today I place an order for 3 items and just had a call to say 2 items not in stock, one being the red dot that was out of stock a couple of months ago, I said to the guy this is the 2nd time this has happened on the same item and his reply was these tend to sellout as soon as we get them, so why show it as in stock then !!! **** **** this is the last order I will be placing with them. I shall purchase another from the same US seller as last time and some people moan when we don't buy stuff from UK sellers, I wonder why we don't.

Ordered a 9mm mag reloader last week from another website and spent time registering the account details etc, placed the order only to get an order refunded email later that day as no stock available.

Maybe we should setup a name and shame poll to show the worst offenders.

I had the exact same with UKMCPRO - wanted a Fabarm scope rail.

Get it all the time, trouble I guess is with this industry chasing a limited market they're not prepared to invest in a lot of stock and have it sat on shelves.

I sympathise with em but they shouldn't advertise it as in stock if it isn't.

What get's my goat is giving a sole firm exclusive rights to distribute a product - particularly this industry, cos the consumer always benefits when someone has a monopoly!!

Might be one of the Dixons/Curry's/PC World gambits. Advertise a product and only actually order it from the manufacturer when sufficient orders for a profit are received.

Sportsmans gets my vote for this. 3 times I've made the mistake of ordering something off their web site and every time the item has been "in a container" somewhere between the US and here for months.

Not having been shooting long the first lesson was that getting anything done takes bl***y ages. Things are never in stock, If you can find the 6 things you need they'll be from 6 different suppliers in 3 different countries. Websites never up to date so you have to phone but they're only open 2 days a week (most weeks). If you can't find something then even the factory has them on a 16 weeks lead time (Forster dies). sign01

Thats just part of the 'fun' kukkuk This week (hopefully) i've got a rifle coming from Scotland, a stock tube coming from Israel, stock butt coming from Italy, rail covers from China and cheek riser from the USA. God knows what the average shooters carbon footprint is!

I'll bet the rifle arrives last.

If you want something on time and as described, buy it from the US.

UK gun "retail" websites are appalling in most cases. Sites which say 'Phone us to Order' should be shut down.

Grr.

That wasn't my last experience; 1 month and a day! But to be fair the package had a transit time of 3.5 days, all the rest was US and UK customs fannying around :cool2:

UK customs etc are a pain, gun shipped form US last Friday, know its in the UK now, but bet its at least 2 weeks before any bill for duty etc, then wait for courier to deliver :(

I know that good things come to those that wait........ BUT I DONT WANT TO WAIT

U.K. Customs operate a computer clearance system. If the Agent has submitted the correct paperwork, including your FAC, if a private import, it should 'Customs Clear' within 24 hours. The agent will know the Duty and VAT amount due when the Entry is accepted onto the CHIEF system so should be able to advise you straight away. Delays are most likely down to the agent. In my experience they were very good at blaming 'Customs' for everything! In the event that the import entry has been selected for examination there can be delays as so many Customs staff have been re deployed as Immigration Officers. However I believe that Heathrow still has Freight Examination Teams and it is unlikely that it would take that length of time to do the examination. Chase your agent!
