I've heard (secondhand) that a "recognised outside organisation" can be things such as the RAC, WI etc. which would open it up massively.

I suspect, whilst you want to run an "open day" a "guest day" in practice is exactly the same.

Only the NRA can run "Open Days" with home Office approval where anyone can just turn up although they must still be able to sign Section 21 form and produce ID on the day.

Clubs run "guest days" as described above.

Why not ask the NRA when they are going to start Open Days again? Last I heard they were not being scrapped just the format was going to change. However I tend to avoid the whole subject now as its still too upsetting to get involved in the things I used to do

You will find the answer to all this in a previous post:

People attending Guest Days must be known personally to a full member of the club.

Or a recognised outside organisation - the old guidance states "Examples of recognised outside organisations whose members may be guest members of approved rifle and muzzle-loading pistol clubs are scouts and guides, schools, Rotary clubs and Women’s Institutes" but this can also mean companies and their clients, banks etc which is how we can run corporate days.

I got this from Surrey Firearms Dept in a face-to-face discussion.

Thanks Karen, I didn't know that. I often wonder how many clubs have invited the WI to a guest day :o
