whats up with Country Covers?

Hello people,

I ordered online a smock, falklands trousers and a shemagh from Country Covers on 18th August. Money was taken from my account. Website is clear that if items are not in stock, could take up to 28 days for delivery.

28 days have passed, and still no delivery.

Used the web contact form asking about the items a few days ago, no reply.

Emailed info@countrycovers.co.uk directly about the order on 25 September, still no reply.

Telephoned via TypeTalk today between 16.15 to 16.30 to 01297442180 and three times the phone was picked up, answered and then hung up.

Have emailed them again stating that their lack of communication is grossly discourteous and reflects poorly on Country Covers, that I will call first thing on Monday morning and if there is no reply, will be requesting refund of money taken for orders not dispatched, along with informing Trading Standards about this company.

Does anyone know if this is atypical of Country Covers or what? Any suggestions or advice?

Apologies about the peeved tone of this email, just that I will have to scramble around and find alternatives PDQ prior to my doing a DS1 next week.

I've used them in the past without any dramas.

Mainly dealt with them face to face, never any dramas.

I've had a few items from them via their Ebay bargain basement sales - as they also trade as Arktis (Country Covers own the Arktis brand & make all the Arktis kit too)
May be worth looking at one of the active sales of such things on teabay & PM them that way

Not quite sure of the relevance of the DSC1 Frere. While it might be nice to be dressed up in new smart kit to look the part you won't be assessed on your dress, and a shemagh? Not sure where that comes in.
You can wear anything comfortable for the shooting test even a mankini I suppose, or perhaps a onesie.
All that is required for the simulated stalk is appropriate clothing. So while it would be nice if the company dealt with your concerns I wouldn't get myself all worked up about needing it for a DSC1 course/assessment as the vast majority is classroom based.

Still, the lack of communication and not yet honouring one's part of a contract despite having had plenty time is poor form, hence my asking if this was atypical as general comments have been otherwise positive about the company, and do hope this this will be sorted.

Yes it is annoying when companies don't respond and after several failed attempts at contacting them I think everyone starts to worry.
I hope you get it sorted soon if only for peace of mind.

I haven't had any dealings with the company but I have exchanged pleasantries with them at a few game fairs over the years and they always seemed like reasonable people and sell some nice products.

24 October and still no delivery. Phoned them after the last post of this thread. Was told that the cloths had been cut but not yet made up.

Now what to do? Phone up again?

Payment taken on 18th August and goods still not supplied on the 24th October, sorry but that's not good enough. I would be demanding an immediate refund and taking my custom elsewhere.

Trading Standards might be a useful next stop, ooman.

We used to deal with them in their Arktis guise and always found them to be very good at customer service and their kit was the best then available. It's a shame to think things may have changed...
