Re: The joys of dealing with the USA
In 2011 I tried to order dies and brass and stuff from a dealer in MN in the US to be delivered to the hotel.
They wouldn't do it stating that their bank had told them not to deal with anyone from the UK as they had had major problems!
I suggested I send them a copy of my fac and said that it was unfair to tarnish the entire population of a country.
They weren't interested in the slightest. Bruno shooters supplies got the order and were a pleasure to deal with.
Going even further back, 10 years or so, I found a guy in the US selling the Wild West Marlin trigger kits at a cracking price.
E mailed him with a view to ordering several sets. He basically said he wasn't prepared to spend time in the pen for a few dollars!
I cannot understand why, if you have a UK FAC, there would be a problem trading.

Time to add another suitcase to our luggage allowance for the next trip over and stock up again I think.
We may even end up breaking our previous record of 118Kg at this rate!

Jeff, how do you get around the $100 export limit? Do you apply for a US export license or have you just been lucky so far?

Those USPS Restrictions will be based on UK requirements and not on US. I'd guess that the restrictions will not prevent stuff being sent but is to inform the sender that they may be sized if they fall into those categories listed when they arrive in the UK.

Suppliers are not exporting, sales are to a US address much the same sort of thing as using BundleBox etc.
Mainly buying lots of reloading gear/components ie. presses, dies, auto powder dispenser, case trim station etc. which are a lot cheaper from places like Titan Reloading, 300aacbrass.com etc. The only "gun parts" were some 15-22 magazines and scope base/rings and last time I got my friend who goes over to see her son to bring back a Mag Tube for the Rem 870 and the ATI stock for the Handi Rifle.
Cases have been inspected multiple times and the only thing I ever had a problem with was Birchwood Casey Brass Cleaner as it's a Hazmat problem with aeroplanes being mainly made of aluminium.
So far for the next trip I've got very little in the way of actual "gun parts" at all, 2 BAD levers and a butt pad so well under $100 and of course Jared has another $100 worth we can add to it if needed.

I'm confused (for a change  ) So the $100 limit is a total limit per person but only applies to 'gun parts'?

Some interesting points of view and insight into the confusion surrounding the whole issue here.

Anyone got a bundle box account fancy sharing the next shipping costs?

Re: The joys of dealing with the USA
As far as I remember there's a limit of $100 on assorted misc. parts (not things like barrels or uppers/lowers), as we're both shooters and both buying stuff for our own use then $100 each would apply.
There's no restriction on reloading gear at all, however, anything over £390 and you're liable for UK duty/VAT etc. as applicable on your return though. I'll try not to spend that much
Jareds main shopping items are socks, pants, jeans and around 10 to 15Kg of coffee!, can't get it over here unless you use Ebay at £8 a tub
Luckily in WallyWorld it's just over £2 for a 15oz tub

Re: The joys of dealing with the USA
I don't think so John, it clearly says parts are restricted so if someone here puts what it is on the customs label it will be refused. If they mislabel it as something else then they are committing a felony Federal offence.John MH wrote:Those USPS Restrictions will be based on UK requirements and not on US. Restricted here means the USPS will not accept it for shipment.
