No sign of mine yet, no doubt I'll get the same letter in with it.
Mark, have you mentioned the letter to Scott to see if he's aware of it?.

I haven't spoken with Scott yet, i've been running around like a blue-arsed fly all day. Will probably give him a ring tomorrow.

Re: VZ58 MARS - Variation hold up
The way it works is that one police force (usually one with a stick up its arse) 'doesn't like' a new type of gun (e.g. LBR's, LBP's, LR9's etc)and kicks up a fuss at the FELWG meetings and they have a pow-wow with the HO bods that attend those meetings as to what they think. If the HO people are actually there they usually nip the arse twitching in the bud and tell the FLD in question to calm down dear. Unfortunately sometimes the HO bods don't attend the meetings and the FLD's get themselves in a lather and situations like the 2010 SGC LR9 debacle happen  Hopefully when this is brought up at the next meeting (or it could've already been brought up in the March meeting - they only have 2 per year), it'll be sorted out.saddler wrote:...I'd send THEM a letter back asking for clarification on WHICH FLD is now deciding on UK Firearms Laws & putting themselves ABOVE the Home Office in terms of passing new rulings on a guns statusBlackstuff wrote:As a side note they've also stuck in one of those letters they used to put in when you got an LBR on your ticket aloing the lines of "At present this gun is considered S1, however another FLD has raised concerns regarding the gun and if its status changes you won't get any compensation from us when we confiscate it" tesnews

Re: VZ58 MARS - Variation hold up
Good news - Got my FAC back this morning (with the same letter in it)
Bad News - Yet again Durham have made a balls up, no entry for my Benelli M3 sec.1 shotgun and still have authority to acquire one.
So, once again they are as organised as a jelly dropped from several hundred feet emrolleyes
Update, someone put it on my SGC instead!, so new FAC being sent out today and can I send this one back

Re: VZ58 MARS - Variation hold up
Must've been the same person that did my certificate. Although the .223 rifle was stated as such in the 'to acquire' section (1ii), i also asked for the 9mm and 7.62mm to get the same status i.e. no action specified but they're still down as 'lever-action'. As i'm getting the .223 one first* and won't be getting the 9mm until early next year and the 7.62 way down the line i couldn't be bothered to query it when i picked it up as i need it to buy a new rifle next week.
Then on top of that, the spare lower receiver for my BR99 is still in section 1ii, but is now also in 1i, which in other words means i can buy another one
They also gave me 2x .22lr rifles (no action specified
) instead of the 1 that i asked for.
*possibly....

Jesus,
I cant believe the grief you folks are going through and the hoops being jumped-have you ever thought about moving a few miles North, West or South to a different force area?

Plus it didn't used to be like this, Durham used to be spot on and it was Northumbria that were the nightmare to deal with. It seems the civilisnisation of the FLD hasn't gone too well, from the shooters perspective anyway emrolleyes

Re: VZ58 MARS - Variation hold up
I particularly like this bit at the end of the letter,
"it is unlikely that holders of such a rifle will not to receive any form of compensation" ???
As Mark said Northumberland used to be a problem but now it's Durham who are the worst in the area, my friend rang me this afternoon after they woke him up (works nights) for the third time asking why he hadn't sent in the medical forms with his renewal, he was not pleased and told them to stop wasting his and their time on things that aren't required and not to ring him again.
