SGC 9mm LR which model is best
Ok now I know there's a few SGC haters on here due to bad experiences with customer service (and failed actions) but I've just been offered a 2nd hander with the Uzi mags at what seems a good price and as it's through my club owner he would see me right if any problems but just wondering if there is a particular model/year to steer clear of before I'm tempted to take the plunge?

If its one of the first models with the UZI mags, the ones with them.223 upper, then they are fine. I have owned two of these and neither have given me any problems.Primer wrote:Ok now I know there's a few SGC haters on here due to bad experiences with customer service (and failed actions) but I've just been offered a 2nd hander with the Uzi mags at what seems a good price and as it's through my club owner he would see me right if any problems but just wondering if there is a particular model/year to steer clear of before I'm tempted to take the plunge?
The first Glock magazines versions were problematic with misfeeding personally would avoid them.
Maybe post the spec, or even a picture? It would help.

If you drop me your email address I can send you a couple of photos of the early model that I am talking about.

I've not seen it yet as my club owner just mentioned as I was leaving the range on Thursday that he had one just come in and I enquired about it yesterday hoping it would be expensive enough to put me off but it's right in my budget but I can't go and look at it till next weekend but thought I would try and find out if the problems people encountered were with a specific model. I've tried the Glock version as a friend got one earlier in the year.
Will post the spec up once I've seen it as all I know is it is the Uzi version, comes with 3 mags (capacity currently unknown) and a 1.5 to 5 scope (waiting for confirmation on make).
How will I know if it's a .223 upper or not (might be a daft question)

I think I'm going to put in for a variation for one of these fellas.

Bobs guns are like iPods never by the first generation. I have the glock mk6 runs like a good un and smother operating than the Uzi ones. Some reason the Uzi ones carry a premium don't no why.

Basically he's a greedy tw@tRburro2 wrote:Some reason the Uzi ones carry a premium don't no why.
He likes ripping people off, the LR9 went up to £2,600 last year and only came down again when Caledonian introduced the VZ58s, even now they are still £600 more than he was selling them for a couple of years ago, as he makes his own bits it's certainly nothing to do with import prices or shortages is it.
Aside from the fact two separate guns had identical failures, which, given the relatively small number produced, in itself is worrying. The VZ58 seems to be much better made and with the added bonus of good after sales.
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

Primer,
The .223 upper is the same as the one on mine in the pics. The later UZI mag versions have an upper which is sort of angular, not rounded.
Re the UZI ones carrying a premium, I think it's basically due to the problems that the earlier Glock versions had regarding bad feeding. I don't know about the Glock ones running smoother, both of my UZI ones have run like clockwork.
Hope this helps.
