Due to an unfortunate incident involving a dry solder repair to the front sight dovetail, I need to scope my Marlin 39. Seeing as it's a lovey, svelte simple thing of simple svelte loveliness I am considering one of those 4x20 that one used to see plastered on sporting rimfires. They look the part and I've used a couple before, finding them quite adequate for my usual technique of "scaring the target until it surrenders".
Am I letting myself in for a fun lesson in drifting zeroes, swearing and gaffa tape?

Re: Simple scopes
Hawke Sport HD is the ubiquitous scope for this sort of thing, and they're fine. No, you won't win an international 1000 yard 50 cal shoot, but for about 40 quid they're ideal for a plinker/semi serious rimfire.

There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)
Re: Simple scopes
I have heard nothing but good things about the whitetail line but this marlin is so ridiculously lightweight and slim I fear pouring anything but the most featherlight of scopes on the top will make it capsize every time I pick it up.
